Denise Peter

Denise has been living in Quebec City since she arrived from South Africa 52 years ago. Since 1997, she has been a professor of English literature and of English as a second language a public college in Quebec City.

In 2017, Denise was a municipal candidate in part of Jean Lesage’s provincial riding. She was elected President of the CPQ at the national convention in 2021. She is entering provincial politics now because she recognizes her values at the very heart of the Quebec Conservative Party’s platform. The freedom Ms. Peter has found in making Quebec her home is something she wants to preserve for future generations:

“Quebec and Canada have been a great stroke of luck for me. I have found freedom, democracy, security, and prosperity. These values, which reside at the very heart of the Quebec Conservative Party, have been seriously undermined over the past two years. I want to be there, with the party, to ensure that future generations can also benefit from them.”
